After extensive water damage from Hurricane Irma, the museum is coming back with exciting new features and exhibits that Naples has been impatiently waiting for since storm damage closed it in 2017. If you weren’t mindful of the remodel before entering, you might think the museum is entirely new.
The remodel will lead to an entirely different experience to the visitor. By taking advantage of the expansion through large open spaces with inspiring views of the redesigned outside landscaping. After walking through the large courtyard designed to house gatherings and performances, you will notice the outdoor café and the large entrance that will take you into the open atrium with an incredible view of the three-story chandelier.
What you might not notice is the highly reinforced structure of the building that is designed to last the ages in the museum’s first step of its new Future Forward plan.
On its reopening the Baker Museum is expected to have acquired 70 new pieces of art, created by such artists as Claude Monet, Edward Degas, Pierre-August Renoir, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Camille Pissarro. Out of the 3,500 pieces at the Baker Museum, 100 will be selected for curation on the spacious first floor.
Visitors will be able to attend a lecture, take in a concert, or experience an exhibition. A new rooftop terrace will offer garden views while enjoying a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Naples citizens are looking forward to the experiences that this state-of-the-art structure has to offer the Naples Culture that has been missed for so long.
