Proving it’s hard to keep the Naples Pier down, this local icon is expected to open sooner than original repair estimates.
The historic Naples Pier experienced damage last year during Hurricane Irma. A $182,470 contract to repair the pier has been progressing faster than expected, with an assist from the clear weather Naples has been experiencing. Original estimates had the Pier reopening in mid to late September, but it looks like we may be fishing from this Naples icon within the month.
Repairs to Naples Pier will also include an update to the pier’s supporting structure, which should provide additional strength during future storms. The last update to the Pier was in 2015, when much of the pier was replaced with ipe, a Brazilian hardwood.
We’re excited to see this historic Naples icon open to the public once again.
