There’s a certain section of Vanderbilt Beach Road that has kept residents scratching their heads for years. That’s right, we’re talking about that stretch of Vanderbilt between U.S. 41 and Livingston that remains a sparse eyesore when compared to the wonderfully green landscaped medians found throughout most of Naples.
This heavily trafficked main roadway has gone year after year without palm trees, native grasses, and a landscaper’s caring hand. As a main thruway to one of Naples’ most popular beaches, it really is a head-scratcher as to why it has gone so long without the Naples standard luxury landscape treatment. And it now looks like we may have to wait a few more years to see a fully landscape transformation, because the Collier County Growth Management Department is proposing that Vanderbilt Beach road be expanded to six lanes.
According to a recent Naples News article, construction to expand the roadway is currently expected to begin in 2020. Unfortunately, there are no current plans to landscape before then. However, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that additional funds will remain for landscaping once the expansion has been completed.
